Creating MPMC & Embarking on the Feasibility Study

In August 2011we embarked on our one year Feasibility Study for safe walking and biking routes in our communities, with Campbell Thomas & Co. What is a Feasibility Study? Click HERE to find out...

Getting Started:  In January 2009 community leaders representing local governments, schools, banks, businesses, and churches met with MACWell (Mercersburg Area Council for Wellness) to create a vision - a vision centering on walkways and trails that could stitch the community together, and provide opportunities for fitness and recreation. Ideas led to action, beginning with the creation of the MPMC steering committee; read about the steps they followed:

Our Work Continues:  Read about our completed Feasibility Study.     See the progress that has been made adding to safety and creating a bike route map.

If you have experience in community planning and walkability/ bikeability or are a community member wanting to help further this vision,  we welcome your participation   on this long term project for walkability/ bikeability/ connectivity of the Montgomery/Mercersburg/Peters townships.  We're also working with other Franklin  County townships to create county wide connectivity and also link to the 9ll Trail.
